Assignment: Design and Build Costume for Character T

Quick Overview
For the interactive installation called Back in Time in Prague, they needed someone to help Design and craft the Costume for the Character T.
The Project started with developing the initial design. We were tasked with designing a costume that was both futuristic and tech-like, while still maintaining a feminine silhouette. Collaborating with Nazila, we explored different concepts before settling on the design shown below.

To start the process of building the costume, I commissioned my friend Tsuya to create a sewing pattern based on the Design and the measurements of the Actress who would personify the Character T, Barbora Váchová.
A big part of the costume would be the built in LEDs, wich were a requirement from the briefing. After some research, I’ve settled on using car interior decoration LEDs, wich posed to be a perfect makeshift sewable EL Wire to implement into the costume. The most difficult part turned out to be hiding the drivers and powerbanks for the LED strips. One was hidden in each shoulder pauldron, whereas the one powering the strips on the whole suit was concealed inside the skirt and the remaining two were hidden inside the shoes.

While the whole Suit was made out of thick, scuba-like stretch fabric, the sheer cutouts on the sides of the body and arms were created using white stockings. Furthermore, the skirt was designed to be detachable for versatility and is secured in place with velcro.

I also attended one of the filming dates, where my job was to check and help that the costume fitted and looked right in the scenes.
